The Very Rev. Dr. Edward E. Thompson
The Very Rev. Dr. Edward E. Thompson, Rector of Trinity Church, Swarthmore, and a regional dean in the Episcopal Diocese of Pennsylvania, has served churches on the east and west coasts as senior pastor and as an outside facilitator of challenging conversations. He has had a lifelong interest in multicultural settings and interreligious discourse. He holds degrees from Williams College (BA), The Church Divinity School of the Pacific (MDiv), and George Mason University’s School for Peace and Conflict Resolution (PhD), where he focused on peacemaking through religions. He has participated in three of the NCC’s interreligious dialogues and, as a member of the Theology Task Force of the Interreligious Convening Table, co-authored the NCC’s policy statement on religious nationalism (2024).
